Sure I can crutch my way through a few words here and there, but the french language was not taught beyond my grandparents in my family because the school system considered it lower class (being Cajun was looked down upon). It seems such a tragedy that my ancestors language has been forced into the brink of extinction (and declining) while other external influences are freely allowed to increase.
