Wheelbarrows on the Belomorkanal

The canal runs partially along several canalised rivers and Lake Vygozero. The total length of the route is 227 kilometres (141 mi). As of 2008, the canal sees only light traffic, carrying between ten and forty boats per day. Its economic advantages are limited by its minimal depth of 3.5 m (11.5 ft),^{[citation needed]} inadequate for most sea-going vessels.

A wheelbarrow at a time (a little bit at a time)

Si on a une tâche qui semble comme une montagne

If we have a task (job) that looks like a mountain

Il est mieux peut être de la chacoter un tit brin à la fois

It is best perhaps to chip at it a little bit at a time

Like we (one) use (uses) a wheelbarrow to haul

Un tas de choses, un tit brin à la fois

A lot of things, a little bit at a time

Ça peut s’faire que en commencement  de la grande tâche

On va se décourager de voir que la grande est pas diminué tout de suite

We (one) will discourage ourselves (himself) seeing that the big task is not diminished in short order

Pas assez pour nous encourager parce que on s’en grille

Not enough to encourage us because we are anxious

De voir la fin arriver et d’en jouir complètement son résultat
